Research Services Branch: Summary Statement

The Research Services Branch plans and coordinates new facilities for the Institute, operates and maintains existing facilities and provides other support functions including centralized glassware and media preparation; instrumentation development and maintenance; arts, graphics and photography; space management; security; landscaping and grounds maintenance and janitorial. Facilities NIEHS is presently housed in interim leased facilities. Design of the permanent facility has been completed, construction monies have been appropriated and apportioned, and construction commenced this fiscal year. Completion of this $67 million project is scheduled for 1980. NIEHS plans to continue occupying the interim facilities concurrently with the new facilities. Table I outlines the function and amount of space available in both the interim and new facilities. Staffing capacity is projected at approximately 800 for the new facility and 400 in existing quarters.
